Toolkit to support implementation of the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory-4

In 2016, the Guide de pratique clinique pour la réadaptation des adultes ayant subi un traumatisme craniocérébral modéré-grave was developed by INESSS in collaboration with the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF).  Among the recommendations made, one specifically addressed the implementation of a scale for rehabilitation programs to measure the functional progression of persons with moderate or severe head trauma (A1.11).

Given that Québec did not have any shared and systematic objective measurement tool for the functional progression of this clientele, the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory (MPAI-4) was chosen for this purpose. This scale, translated and adapted for the Québec context, is widely used in the United States and the rest of the world in the rehabilitation program setting as well as in clinical and evaluative research.

The implementation toolkit for the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory-4 (MPAI-4) thus aims to support managers and rehabilitation service professionals working with this clientele. This kit explains what the MPAI-4 is and why and how to use it. The kit also presents the steps and procedures to facilitate its implementation and ensure follow-up of its use in practice settings.
