Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with the ioflupane (123I) radiotracer is expensive and, given its newness, relatively inaccessible in Québec at this time. Since the number of requests for this test is likely to increase, overseeing appropriate use is essential for ensuring its access by the patients most likely to benefit from the test. As a result of its assessment and with the goal of promoting appropriate use of ioflupane SPECT, INESSS has issued two recommendations regarding clinical indications and two others on organizational arrangements.
