Overview of dabigatran usage among people insured by the public prescription drug insurance plan

In a Notice issued to the Minister of Health and Social Services with regard to the update of the lists of medications scheduled for April 20, 2011, INESSS recommended that dabigatran be added to the Exceptional medications section for people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) requiring anticoagulant therapy, according to certain conditions. In this notice, INESSS indicated that it intended to monitor the use of dabigatran by re-evaluating it two years after it was added to the List of Medications.
