Notice Santécom: 126555

For many decades, the standard treatment for aortic valve stenosis was surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR). An alternative treatment has been developed that allows transcatheter implantation of a new aortic valve (TAVI).

This state of practice describes, for the period April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2018:

  • the organizational structure related to TAVI;
  • the characteristics of patients treated by TAVI;
  • the processes of selection of patients, including wait times;
  • the care processes related to TAVI and length of hospital stay;
  • the main adverse events; and
  • clinical outcomes following TAVI.
