INESSS has updated three of seven guides in its second series of clinical guides on antibiotic therapy, first published in 2005. The guides deal with the following topics:

• Antibiotic prophylaxis for bacterial endocarditis;
• Intra-abdominal infections in adults;
• Use of antibiotics among the elderly living in long-term care facilities.

An information sheet on bacterial resistance has also been developed.

These guides are intended for health care professionals to guide them in managing the antibiotic therapy for the specific conditions mentioned above.

Because of changes in how people access information and out of concern for the environment, mailings of the paper version of the guides will be limited. If you would like a paper copy, you may print one of the simplified PDF versions of the guides. In addition, downloadable versions for smartphones are being developed. The guides are not available for ordering at present.
