ETIAMEST (Field evaluation of the treatment of acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation [STEMI]), is a flagship project of the Tertiary Cardiology Evaluation Unit. It aims to establish an accurate picture of STEMI management in Québec at the provincial and regional levels as well as within individual hospitals, in order to improve decision-making and ultimately patient outcomes. In 2014, Phase III of data collection will begin at 82 hospitals across the province. Combined with the information collected in Phases I and II, these data will make it possible to monitor the evolution of STEMI treatment and performance improvement initiatives. Earlier this year, the Unit completed a report of in-depth analyses using data from Phases I and II of the project. These analyses have generated important findings with respect to both the organization of care and clinical decisions affecting STEMI management in the province of Quebec.
