It has been noted that of the services available in Québec to those with weight issues, there are few structured services aimed at children. Because of this, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) has entrusted INESSS with the development of a clinical practice guide addresses the treatment of obesity in children aged 5 to 17, inclusively, in order to improve their health and well-being.
