Priority evaluations
A request for registration of a multisource generic medication to the List of Medications for the basic prescription drug insurance plan or the List of Medications – Institutions may be processed in priority for economic reasons.
Economic motive
Pursuant to the Pharmaceutical Policy, a multisource generic medication may be subject to a priority evaluation if its registration is conducive to bringing significant savings to the public health care system.
The potential savings threshold for a medication to be prioritised for economic reasons is established annually. For 2021, this threshold was set at $200,000 per month for anticipated registrations.
