Treatment options for coronary artery disease include medical therapies and revascularization of the coronary arteries, either by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or by coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG).

The principal objective of this report is to present a portrait of use and outcomes of PCI performed in Québec between 2015 and 2018 while paying special attention to:

  1. structural characteristics of the cardiac care network;
  2. characteristics of patients treated by PCI;
  3. the trajectory of care and services received before and after PCI; and
  4. in-hospital mortality in the 30 days following PCI.

The series of findings presented can guide continuous improvement of the quality of care and services within the institutions and clinical programs concerned.
